Newsletter: Winter greetings from Zululand!Newsletter: January – May 2012

The onset of winter is here. Our volunteers have started to wrap up as they head out with our monitors in the chilly early mornings and evenings. Cozy and warm in their winter attire, they assist our team with the vital monitoring work conducted on the various reserves.

Our teams have had an eventful few months. Among other things, we’ve relocated painted dogs onto new reserves, assisted with finding new homes for lions and removed snares from cheetah and painted dog. An exciting new development is starting on Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park next month. We’re initiating a second monitoring project in the iMfolozi section, focusing on leopard and cheetah surveys using remote camera traps.

If you’d like regular updates from the field visit our website, join our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter. Feel free to share your experiences or interact with our monitors on our social media platforms. We look forward to meeting those of you who are yet to visit our projects or welcoming back those who we’ve already had the pleasure of meeting on a previous trip.
