The wildlife volunteers and I had a great time finding these amusing photographs while sorting through the images from the Hluhluwe leopard survey. The survey is conducted in partnership with Panthera and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. Many of our camera trap sites are located at river crossings and mud wallows, as they are frequented by large volumes of game. This buffalo took the time to have a relaxing mud bath right in front of one of our cameras. Buffalo like to roll in the mud as it stops biting insects, it acts as a natural sun cream and it looks like a lot of fun too.
